Sounds great, but full of spoilers for Forgotten Ruin series

As you can I see I still gave it 5 starts and I'm definitely picking up Sgt. Thor series after I finish Forgotten Ruin (I'm on Violence of Action right now). Very Howard's Conan style, but with Anspach & Cole unmistakable flavor! Liked it, but save for later.

Half Nice story, half summary of earlier events

I enjoyed this audiobook's story of Sgt. Thor investigating a mysterious island of beauty and danger. However - half the time was dedicated to summarizing the events of the first 4 books. It clearly wants to be a teaser to get readers interested in the series, and it does that job by telling us about Sgt. Thor himself. The backstory may be a great premise, but it comes off as cringe in a long infodump which has the charm of a nerd cornering you and explaining all the lore of his homemade fantasy setting, in unwanted detail. Also, I now know the plots, character arcs and secret reveals of the books in detail, so why would I read them?

Prose is OK, seems like it was probably unedited Anspach. There was a high concentration of high speed tacticool military slogans, jargon and lessons learned from "The Sandbox" where the lethal operators embraced the suck, hooah.

The narrator does a good job but his first few lines, the title stuff, sound really bad. I suggest rerecording them to avoid scaring off listeners.

BadAss Book!

This was a helluva great short, letting us see what Sgt Thor is capable of on his own in the Ruin. I️ really liked it.

Awsome

The story of Thor keeps getting richer. This does not disappoint.

That was fun!

It was weird to hear this as a third person account, instead of the "Talker" first person account... But once I got past that, it was a fun ride!
